Welcome to City and Book! I’m so excited to have you join the blog for this week’s Writer Spotlight Wednesday.
What draws you to your genres as an author?
I was initially drawn to paranormal because I loved reading it and I’m the biggest Star Wars, Harry Potter, Twilight nerd around. I loved getting lost in different worlds — worlds that are different from the mundane everyday. That makes paranormal really fun to write. But, that being said, I love writing contemporary and romantic suspense as well, because it’s nice to have story lines that are smaller (versus the grand world building of my paranormal books) but still get the happy endings they deserve.
Could you tell readers about the inspiration behind your upcoming release, Blocked, which comes out on the 25th?
Well, my newest release is a contemporary hockey romance, and it’s inspired from my own hockey-playing adventures. I met my husband when we played on the same team and eventually got our own HEA. It was fun to explore the team vs romantic aspects… and also to throw in some of the crazy stuff that happens in those co-ed locker rooms.
Co-ed locker rooms could lead to some awesome stories for sure! I can’t wait to see what Blocked has in store for readers. I have a teaser for everyone and let me just say I’m excited to meet Brit! Anyone else who can’t wait can pre order on Amazon!
What do you think sets your books apart from all the options available to readers?
I like to think of my books as the snarky best friend you’ve always wanted. There are tear-jerking moments, hilarious ones, sweet parts, but my narrators are never too far away from thinking like we think.
Do you have any information you’d like to share about your upcoming projects?
Look for more of my Phoenix books (coming up next on the docket), then more KTS, LexTals, and Gold Hockey! It’s going to be a busy year!
Wow, you have a busy time ahead! Before you go, would you mind joining a bit of non writing related fun with the fast five questions?
