Her time is over.
Things are looking up.

She’s dirty and ugly.
He’s wicked but handsome.

Six months to toy with her.
Six months of vacation and a ton of money.

I’ll hurt her beyond repair.
I’ve been through much worse.

She’s difficult to control and doesn’t obey.
I’m done submitting to anyone or anything in this life.

I should hate her.
I should hate him.

The game has changed.
I will win.

Dirty Ugly Toy is a novel that blurs the lines of right and wrong, deals with abuse, contains dubious consent, and adult subject matter. If you are sensitive to violent sexual situations, the book may not be suitable for you. Some parts of this book are not easy to read and are not intended for everyone. However, those that keep an open mind and stick with it will not be disappointed.

REVIEW

4.5/5 Stars

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I am not typically a reader of dark romance but I adore K Webster so when I saw the Dirty Ugly Toy blog sign up, I was in. I am really glad I took a chance for an author I love.

Dirty Ugly Toy gave me everything I’ve loved about other contemporaries from Webster with a dark, dirty twist. The male lead, Braxton, is a man with a sex addiction and control issues. He selects women down on their luck to be his toys. He likes to restore his toys and play with them. He’s a very dirty dominant and his toys are his favorite play things…until he gets tired of them. But Braxton’s world is turned upside down when he picks out Bunny. She challenges him on a level his other toys never have. Who will win their tug of war for power?

Dirty Ugly Toy does have a HEA because Webster doesn’t leave us hanging in her works but the journey to that HEA is an intense one. Just when I was starting to piece everything together, there was an insane twist to the story. I absolutely loved it because it kept me on toes. The entire second half of the book I had no clue how Webster was going to make it to a HEA and I adored that. A+ on the plot.

The main characters Braxton and Bunny, whose real name is Jessica, were beautifully broken souls to get to know. They were multifaceted and somehow both so strong yet vulnerable at the same time. I really loved that there was a level of growth and personal development but both characters accept one another for their flaws and that remains a big part of why they connect. It’s a twisted sexy story but at the core there’s a beautiful love story of two people embracing one another flaws and all and growing together.

As always, Webster’s writing was beautiful. She’s so descriptive and draws you into the scene and the character’s mind. I always get lost in her worlds. The editing was also impeccable so it was a lovely read without my OCD doing autocorrects.

Overall, I very much enjoyed Dirty Ugly Toy despite it not being a typical read for me. I’d recommend this to any K Webster fan, any dark romance fans and any readers who just want something a little different from their norm. It’s a good balance of dirty and happy ever after for dipping your toes into the dark romance genre.
