Why is it a top 10 book of 2015?

I am a major fan of Alyssa Rose Ivy (ARI) and Life After Falling was able to connect with me on a whole new level, even after finishing ARI’s entire library. Sometimes an author has the power to create a plot with emotions that are so personal and deeply engrained in the reader, you feel as if it was written just for you. ARI made me feel like Life After Falling was mine.

Synopsis

One tangled cassette tape. Two tangled lives.

Cassidy snaps. She quits her job and fiancé all in the same day and ends up on her parents’ doorstep. In the midst of everything she is determined to fix a broken cassette tape that she thinks holds the key to rediscovering happiness.

On her quest to fix the tape she meets Leo, a guy as down on his luck as she is lost. What starts with curiosity leads to something resembling a relationship and maybe a chance at love.

Review

Just when I thought I’d experienced ARI’s whole writing range, which is amazing by the way…she released Life After Falling and blew away all my expectations. From the first time I saw the cover, I knew it would be special. It was meant to be a little different and is definately a contemporary novel but has a lot of really fun flashback to the 90’s moments.

Cassie and Leo are the main characters and without giving too much plot away…they are both broken in their own ways and a tangled cassette tape brings them together. The two explore the adventure of fixing the cassette tape and along the way they begin to fix one another as well. It’s a really sweet love story with quirky twists that any 80’s or 90’s girl will love.

I adore the plot line and the characters that ARI crafted. I think almost anyone will be able to relate to Cassie. Nearly every adult has had a moment when they just realize everything needs to change. Maybe you didn’t call off an engagement and move back to your parents basement like Cassie has…but we all can relate to having an epiphany moment and needing to just revamp our life.

I personally had one of those epiphany moments earlier in 2015. And to really honest I was questioning the decisions I’dmade really heavily this fall when Life After Falling was released. I immediately connected with Cassie and even though our stories aren’t identical, I felt like ARI had written this novel just for me. I felt like she gifted me Cassie to let me know everything was going to be okay. If Cassie could come out on the other side then so would I. When an author not only provides a world to escape into, but crafts characters which hold so much real emotion, it’s a really magical experience. Not every book has such a power and ARI really created something so special with this release.

I think anyone who is doubting their choices in life should read Life After a falling because it will help you process your own journey as you follow Cassie and Leo’s journeys. Anyone who still rocks out to The Smashing Pumpkins or other great 90’s hit makers will appreciate the nostalgia factor of this novel. And any contemp romance readers will love the characters and journey to fall while enjoying a new twist on their fav genre.
