Synopsis:

“FOR FRACTURED SOULS ARE LIKE MAGNETS.  DRAWN TO COLLIDE INTO AN IMPOSSIBLE BLISS…”

Labeled a ‘Cursed’ woman of Eve from birth, Maddie has endured nothing but pain and repression at the hands of The Order’s most abusive elder, Moses. Now living with her sister in The Hangmen’s secluded compound, finally, Maddie, is free. Free from the suffocating faith she no longer believes in. Free from endless years of physical and mental torment.
Just… free…
At age twenty-one, the timid and shy Maddie is content to live within the confines of her new home—safe from the outside world, safe from harm and, strangely, protected by the Hangmen’s most volatile member; the heavily pierced and tattooed, Flame.
Flame.
The man who ceaselessly watches over her with his midnight dark and searing eyes. The man who protects her with a breath-taking intensity. And the man who stirs something deep within her numbed heart.
But when circumstances conspire for Flame to need HER help, Maddie bravely risks it all for the broken man who has captivated her fragile soul.
The Hangmen’s most infamous member, Flame, is ruled by one thing—anger. Plagued by haunting demons from his past, an all-consuming rage, and isolated by an abhorrent hatred of being touched, Flame’s days are filled with suffocating darkness, pierced only by a single ray of light—Maddie. The shy, beautiful woman he cannot purge from his thoughts. The woman he has an overwhelming need to possess…
… the only person who has ever been able to touch him.

Flame’s mission in life is to protect Maddie, to keep her safe. Until a trigger from his troubled past sends him spiraling into madness, trapping him in the deepest recesses of his disturbed mind.
His Hangmen brothers fear that Flame is beyond saving.
His only hope of salvation: Maddie and her healing light.
**Contains explicit sexual situations, violence, disturbingly sensitive and taboo subjects, offensive language, and very mature topics.

Recommended for age 18 years and over.**

Review:

If I could give SU more than 5 stars I would. Tillie Cole has created beautiful dark magic once again.

This is not a book for everyone. It’s very graphic, there’s a lot of violence, a lot of foul language and it digs deep into some very very heavy topics related to sexual abuse. It goes even beyond what we saw in the first two Hangmen books. But if you can handle the subject matter, you will be rewarded with one of the most beautiful love stories you have ever read.

As we all know SU is the story of Flame and Maddie. These two are polar opposites. Maddie, who is often called The Little One due to her petite size, is wounded emotionally from her time with the cult and has trouble reaching out to anyone beyond her sisters. She spends her time at church, sketching and watching Flame. Flame, a member of the Psycho Trio, is one of the most notorious Hangmen and is known for his ruthless kills for the club. He keeps everyone at arms length, including his best friends, until Maddie.

Maddie and Flame go on an incredible emotional journey with the lowest lows and love filled highs. It was an incredible experience to go through their growth with them. I cried with these two, had anxiety for them and I breathed a sigh of relief when love finally healed these two shattered souls.

This book takes you deep inside Flame’s psyche and can be a struggle. Our beautifully broken Flame has a tragic story until Maddie graces his world. I loved learning more about Flame and Maddie. Tillie did such an amazing job bringing them to life for us. I also really enjoyed that we got to see the rest of the Hangmen, with a particular focus on Styx, Mae, Ky and Lilah.

This is a must read. It was absolutely stunning.  I literally cannot even give this book justice with a written review. It must be experienced!
